FAQs

  • What is Spinal Flow Technique?
The Spinal Flow Technique is a harmonious blend of cutting-edge science and ancient healing practices based on the 7 Gateways of the spine. There is an innate instinct inside every human body to restore and mend itself. This innate instinct, known as the spinal wave, is activated by contacting specific access points which facilitate healing via the nervous system.
  • What is the spinal wave?
Fundamentally the spinal wave is the extraordinary vital energy which supports the human body systems optimal functioning. This energy has been acknowledged by various cultures throughout history using different terminology, such as life force, prana, kundalini, and qi. This innate energy resides within each of us, we just have to tap into it!
  • What are access points?
Access points are specific areas along the spine where the dura mater connects to the coccyx, sacrum, and cranium. Contacting these access points prompts the Nervous System to identify and release spinal blockages, paving the way for restored vitality and holistic well-being. Physical pain: The benefits of the Spinal Flow Technique are vast and impactful. By releasing tension within the spine, the body is able to reset and realign, reducing inflammation and promoting the natural healing of injuries. Emotional Well-Being: Chronic stress and anxiety often creates tension patterns that get “stuck” in the nervous system, resulting in fatigue and sleep disturbances. By addressing these blockages, Spinal Flow promotes a sense of relaxation, calm, and balance, allowing individuals to better cope with life’s challenges. Many people who experience Spinal Flow also report improved energy levels, enhanced mental clarity, and a greater sense of connection to themselves. Spinal Flow honours the interconnectedness of the soul, body and mind, helping individuals feel more present and grounded.

You will receive an email/SMS confirmation and reminders of your appointment. Please familiarise yourself with the cancellation policy.
  • What does the initial consultation appointment consist of?
The Spinal Flow intake begins with a body assessment and posture screening to locate spinal blockages. This will reveal areas where stress and trauma are being harboured within the body. We will discuss the emotional and physical symptoms associated with these blockages. Ample time is provided for any questions you may have. The session concludes with an initial Spinal Flow session.
  • What does a treatment session consist of?
Clients remain fully clothed for treatment which is conducted with the client lying comfortably, face down on a massage table. Very gentle and precise pressure is applied to access points that give the practitioner a direct pathway to the nervous system. During sessions, clients are encouraged to take deep breaths and simply witness what is occurring within. Though the treatment is very relaxing, you are encouraged to stay awake and be an active participant in your healing process. Being connected to and present in your body is one way to help achieve this.
  • What does treatment feel like?
Each healing session may be experienced differently. Clients commonly report an increase in awareness and depth of breath, a tingling or floating sensation, a deeply meditative state, strong feelings of connection to self and/or source, energy or electricity moving through the body, a rush of emotion, physical movement—twitching or contracting. However one experiences treatment is good! The innate wisdom of the body is gently guiding it to release stored stresses, leading to improved functioning, decrease in pain and an overall feeling of health and wellbeing.
  • What should I wear for treatment?
Wear comfy, loose-fitting clothes. You will remain fully clothed for all treatment (except massage treatments). For Spinal Flow, please ensure you do not wear jeans or any clothing with a thick waist band. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows your practitioner to make good contact with your access points and track your spinal wave. Jeans, belts, hoodies and bulky clothing should be avoided.
  • How many treatments will I require?
The number of treatments needed depends on a variety of factors: Severity of the issue Length - how long it has been a problem Root cause Overall health - are there other contributing factors? Your commitment to the treatment schedule and what you do for yourself outside of receiving treatment.
  • How often will I require treatment?
Frequency of treatment is different for everybody because everybody is different! Some people respond quickly to treatment while someone with longstanding acute issues or stress and trauma that has been stored for years or decades may require more frequent treatment initially. As clients start to experience change, healing and relief, frequency of treatment reduces. We will work together to create a treatment schedule that is right for you and adjust it as needed.

Spinal Flow treatment is appropriate for people of all ages, experiencing a variety of symptoms. There are no contraindications for Spinal Flow as we are just increasing the flow of energy that naturally resides in every human body. The technique is incredibly gentle and effective. There are no known contraindications with spinal flow treatment.
  • Is Spinal Flow safe for me if I am pregnant?

  • Can I have a massage and Spinal Flow Treatment in the same session?
Absolutely, yes! A 90-minutesor 120-minute or 150-minute integrative massage can be added to your Spinal Flow Healing Session when scheduling allows. I have found that SFT followed by massage is incredibly beneficial as the body is in such a relaxed state it is more receptive to massage.
  • How is Spinal Flow different from other practices?
Spinal Flow focuses on harnessing the body's natural intelligence to heal itself. It's usually recommended to have a series of sessions to build on progress. It can take a few months of regular care to restore function and alignment, and it's important to follow the care plan to get the full benefit.
